Cook.sk
Cook.sk is a new Slovak website with recipes from around the world, written in Slovak. It is not about the number of recipes, but about recipes you can actually cook from. Every recipe has exact quantities, clear steps and a short explanation of why it works. Recipes adapted from other authors always credit the original source. It is our own product, launched on 25 October 2026 and still actively developed.
Practical tools help while cooking. Ingredients scale to the chosen number of servings, and units switch between grams, kilograms and cups with a single click. Cook Mode guides you through the recipe step by step in large type, offers a timer for timed steps and keeps the screen from turning off while you cook. Ingredients can be added to a shopping list, favourite recipes can be saved for later, and when you don't know what to cook, the "Surprise me" button picks a recipe for you. Alongside the recipes there are articles on cooking techniques and kitchen hacks, recipe series, ratings and tips.
The website is connected to Instagram @cook.sk_. The homepage automatically shows the latest posts, and a custom "link in bio" page (cook.sk/bio) takes people from Instagram straight to the recipe and counts the clicks. Adapted recipes carry source attribution, and the site has a dedicated Sources and Copyright page.
Content is managed in a custom admin panel. Before publishing, every recipe goes through a quality publish checklist: exactly three reasons why the recipe works, ingredients and steps, a main photo with alt text, a category, preparation times and, for adapted recipes, the source. A new recipe can be imported from a photo using AI, and the admin discovers ideas for new recipes in RSS feeds.
We built the site on Laravel 13 and PHP 8.4 with Livewire and Alpine.js, styled with Tailwind CSS, with data in MySQL and images handled by Medialibrary. For search engines, every recipe has JSON-LD Recipe structured data, and the site generates a sitemap and its own OG images for sharing. The site runs without third-party trackers, and users can export their data or delete their account (GDPR). It runs on our own server.
